This page explains what data Jakubovsky (the website www.jakubovsky.com and the J. Travel mobile apps for iOS and Android) collects and why. The site and apps are built and run by me personally, Sergejs Jakubovskis — data is never sold or shared with ad networks.
The Community section (travel map, profile, activity) requires signing in with Google or Apple. From the provider, the site only receives your name, e-mail, and (if the provider shares it) a profile photo — enough to create and recognize your account. The site has no access to your password or any other Google/Apple account data. The same person can link both sign-in methods to one account via "Sign-in methods" in the profile.
In your profile you can optionally add a username, date of birth, a short bio, and social media links, and upload a profile photo. All of these fields are optional and visible to other Community members — don't add anything you're not comfortable sharing publicly.
Your home and the cities you mark as visited in the Community are visible to other members on the shared map and the leaderboard — this is an open, public part of the site. The same goes for likes and comments on other people's activities. You can delete any single city, comment, or activity yourself at any time.
The Activity section in the app records a GPS track, distance, and time of a walk/hike/run/bike ride when you tap "Start" yourself — including in the background, if the screen is locked or another app is open (this is why iOS asks for "Always" location access). Route points are saved on the server together with the activity summary; the summary only becomes visible to other members if you explicitly make it public.
The site uses two technical cookies: your chosen interface language and your Community login session — neither is used for advertising or cross-site tracking. The server (Google Cloud Run) keeps standard technical request logs (IP address, time, page address) used only for troubleshooting, not for profiling.
Data is stored on Google Cloud (Cloud Run and Cloud Storage) — like on any website, this is hosting infrastructure, not a separate recipient using the data for Google's own purposes. Google and Apple see the fact that you signed in through their service (standard for any "Sign in with…"). No data is shared with ad networks, analytics services, or any other third party — the site and apps have no analytics or tracking systems at all.
Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. You can delete your account yourself at any time — in your profile, with the "Delete account" button (web, iOS, and Android): this permanently deletes your profile, cities, routes, activities, comments, and likes. No backups of deleted data are kept.
You can view and change your own data yourself, in your profile, at any time. If something isn't possible through the interface (for example, you need a data export), reach out via the contact below.
The site and apps are not intended for children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect data from them. If it turns out an account was created by a child under 16, it will be deleted.
This page may be updated — for example, when new features that affect data are added. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page.
