Cape Nordkin, also known as Kinnarudden, is the northernmost point of mainland Europe. It is located on the Nordkin Peninsula in the Norwegian municipality of Gamvik. The coordinates of the cape are 71°08′ N. latitude, 27°39′ e. d.
Although many travelers consider the North Cape to be the northernmost point, this is not entirely true: North Cape is located on the island of Magerøya, while Kinnarudden is the edge of the mainland.
Unlike the tourist North Cape, to which there is a road, Nordkin remains an inaccessible and “wild” place. The infrastructure here is completely absent. You can only get to it on foot, covering about 24 kilometers through the tundra. The trek requires serious physical preparation, navigation skills and taking into account difficult Arctic weather conditions. Most often, tourists who want to see this cape without grueling trekking observe it from board cruise ships passing along the coast.
