Liepaja is the third largest city in Latvia, located on the southwestern coast of the Baltic Sea. The city, officially known as "the city where the wind is born", uniquely combines an atmosphere of artistic freedom, a rich musical history, the romance of the rugged Baltic coast and the harsh heritage of a former military base.
The city is famous for its wide sandy beach with fine white sand, ancient wooden and modern architecture, legendary rock culture and the contrasting military district of Karosta.
